Letting Others Speak for us !
A new
retailer for Baglite and Anklelite
in the UK,
www.beseenonabike.com, have just received their stock for
their first order last Friday. They have had the products up on their website
for a couple of weeks and yesterday reordered and stated...
"Hi.
Please review the attached Purchase Order for more ankle/baglites - they are
proving very popular. Really impressed with these products and I feel there is
huge potential for them - just needs more hours in the day to promote them!!!"
Bike Biz is
the most influential trade magazines in UK cycling, Carlton Reid is the Editor,
every company sends him their products to review. His view on Anklelite and Baglite
is......
Thanks.
Got 'em today, used 'em tonight. Very impressed.

are a well known internet retailer in the UK
and have been selling Pedalite Battery Free 360 degree visibility pedal lights
at a rate of over 100 a month for the past 3 months running.
We also have
received in the past couple of weeks many many other similar endorsements and praise
for the products from high street retailers, cycling shops, outdoor shops,
sports shops, etailers and many other retail outlets.
ChristmasPedalite products are proving very popular as
Christmas presents again this year. Anklelite represents an "impulse buy" for anyone if placed on a retail
store counter/front page of a website and that parents are already modifying
their "going to School" checklist for their children to be "have you got your
schoolbooks, your lunch and your Baglite?"
Pedalite
would like to wish all of our Distributors, Retailers and Customers a very happy
Christmas Season and a prosperous, healthy and successful new year.
Thank you
for helping to make 2008 a record year for Pedalite products.
Quality
 Pedalite
have always been proud of our quality record with our battery free 360 degree visibility pedal lights.
We have boasted of our 0.3% returns rate against industry averages of around 3%.
Recent reports have now shown that this is falling further and for both toe
clips and pedal lights we are now seeing about 0.2% returns. This is due
to number of improvements that we have made to the products, the most important
being the conformal coatings added to the pedal lights 6 months ago. While
the pedal lights are sealed and water and dampness should not get into them, if,
for whatever reason, it somehow does it will not affect them due to the
conformal coating. Please see the images here of the insides of our Pedal
Lights operating under water in a goldfish tank.
However, as it is almost Christmas, I would like
to share with you a couple of
recent genuine "customer problems" with you, that will probably make
you smile:
Problem One
A UK
retailer sold a pair of the Pedalite battery free 360 degree visibility pedal
lights to a customer who then complained that "they did not work", the retailer
requested a replacement for the faulty pair. Pedalite asked the retailer
for permission to contact the customer and replace them direct if they did not
work.
When
we contacted the customer the first test we requested was to spin the spindle of
the pedal as indicated on the packaging cut away and statement "Turn me".
Here is the response we received back....
Upon reading
Pedalite's e-mail, I suddenly realised what the issue was, but it simply hadn't
occurred to me up until then, I hadn't realised that the spindle within each
pedal had to be turned (in hindsight, it of course makes perfect sense), I'd
only considered the motion of the entire unit as relevant to the production and
storage of energy, nothing else had crossed my mind - and again, in hindsight,
I'm very surprised at MYSELF, let alone what others may think, as to why this
hadn't! (I'd had in my mind a wrist-watch type of design, where overall motion
generated energy, and - I don't know why)
The
customer was waving the pedal around in mid air, still in the retail box and
wondering why the lights did not flash!
Result: Happy Customer who now has the pedal lights on his bike
However, beware that every reported problem is not always a product failure.
Problem Two
We
have seen this second "problem" multiple times. Emails relating to this always
start the same way:
Not long ago [I or Someone else for me] purchased a set of your pedal lights and
they have stopped working. Can you replace them please?
After, usually several email exchanges, resulting in the customer not being
found in our warranty database, we always request a digital photograph and this
one is similar to what we always get back !!
Of
course the only way we can answer this is by replying as follows:
Dear []
Thank you for
the picture, now it is very clear why we could not find your in our warranty
system.
Any company
that is as successful as Pedalite with unique products is prone to inferior
imitations coming into the market, I am afraid it is one of those that you
have brought from someone but clearly not from Pedalite!
I am sorry to
bring you this bad news. I have put a small table below to show you a quick
comparison between the Pedalite battery free 360 degree visibility pedal
lights and the product you purchased from someone other than Pedalite.
|
Pedalite Battery Free 360 degree visibility pedal lights |
Other flashing pedal product |
|
Stores energy – flashes for 5 minutes after pedalling stops (vital
as 75% of all accidents on bicycles happen at intersections and
traffic lights where cyclists need to be seen from the side and
where cyclists stop pedalling) |
Stops
flashing when you stop pedalling – just when you need to be seen
most at road intersections and traffic lights |
|
Used
by police forces and emergency services in multiple countries |
Due
to encumbering the reflector the pedals are illegal in most
countries. |
|
Strict quality assurance (worldwide 0.2% returns rate) |
Prone
to breaking at the first sign of dampness or a bump |
|
Superbright LEDs that flash white to the front, amber to the side
and red to the rear as required by traffic laws in most countries |
Standard LEDs in a single colour providing no directionality and
breaching traffic laws in most countries. |
|
Made
from Dupont polymers and Polycarbonates (materials developed for the
space industry and stronger than steel) |
Made
from Plastic |
|
Patented technology that has been tested to provide less than 0.5%
resistance (unnoticeable) when riding |
Standard dynamo technology that generates more and more resistance
as it wears. |
|
Supergrip foot grips, designed in conjunction with twice world
champion cyclist Tony Doyle, to give exceptional grip in all
weathers |
Plastic studs, it is not recommended to use these in the wet as
plastic becomes slippery. |
|
Optional accessory of a Pedalite toe clip |
Cannot have toe clips attached |
|
|
|
Obviously
there are other differences as well and to provide balance I have to add
that there is one advantage of the imitation pair over Pedalite battery free
360 degree pedal lights and that is that it is cheaper. However, of course,
there is also the old adage that one gets what one pays for!
Once again, I
am sorry to advise that you have been sold an inferior imitation of the
original and worldwide best selling Pedalite battery free 360 degree
visibility pedal lights. There is a lot of additional information regarding
Pedalite on our website (www.pedalite.com)
where you will also find information about our other unique lighting safety
products for cyclists.
The
people that contact us with this problem always insist that either they remember
buying the product, that they remember the Pedalite packaging and that it is
definitely, without doubt a Pedalite product until we get the photograph from
them!
We
often will offer a small upgrade discount to the customer, in conjunction with
our distributor for the region, if they would like to upgrade to Pedalite
Battery Free 360 degree visibility pedal lights. They usually do upgrade.
Result: Happy Customer who now has pedal lights on their bike that work.
However, beware that every reported Pedalite product problem is not always a
Pedalite product.
