Batteries - The average household uses 21 batteries a year
Most batteries contain heavy metals, which can contribute to soil and water pollution and endanger wildlife. In the UK alone, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) says around 600 million batteries (22,000 tonnes) - the equivalent weight of 110 Jumbo Jets - are disposed of annually by UK consumers.

Pedalite products are Battery Free
Pedalite Products are completely battery free, harvesting the existing energy from the pedals going around and storing this and there is no extra energy required from the rider.
There are no
batteries and no electric "recharge unit"
eliminating batteries going into landfill (15
billion tonnes of batteries are thrown away each
year at present globally) and there is no
"recharging" that uses electricity with the
resulting carbon emissions, etc.

Plastic and Wood Packaging
The UK alone produces over 10 million tonnes of waste Plastic packaging each year filling landfill sites. New paper and card packaging costs trees!

Pedalite Packaging
The packaging is made predominantly from recycled paper and there is no plastic.
All packaging can be recycled again.

being disposed of in landfill.

Packing Peanuts
Those little white polystyrene-foam packaging
peanuts are nearly ubiquitous in our
pack-and-ship culture, but they are no good for
the environment, let alone human health. The
basic building block of polystyrene is the
non-recyclable chemical compound styrene.
Chronic exposure to styrene is associated with
central nervous system damage as well as skin,
eye and respiratory irritation, depression,
fatigue and compromised kidney function.

ROHS
The RoHS Directive stands
for "the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical
and electronic equipment". This Directive bans the placing on the EU market of
new electrical and electronic equipment containing more than agreed levels of
lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and
polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants.
