Reflexions Reflexology adds this year’s most exciting cycling accessory to its range of reflexology treatments!
7 February 2008 – Customers of London-based reflexology company, Reflexions, will now be able to purchase this year’s ‘must have ‘cycling accessory - the new battery-free 360 degree visibility pedal lights from Pedalite, together with reflexology treatments, massages and essential oils when visiting the company’s therapy centres in the Kings Road and Whiteleys Shopping Centre, Bayswater.
Pedalite 360 degree visibility pedal lights are an innovative new safety product for cyclists. They require no batteries and are uniquely powered by cycling energy. They provide always-on lighting enabling cyclists to be seen by motorists soon as they start pedaling and from a distance of 1km. The lights also store this energy for up to 5 minutes of additional lighting so they stay on when cyclists stop at road junctions ensuring their bikes can be seen by motorists. This greatly enhances safety as 75% of road accidents happen at junctions where cyclists need to be seen by cars from the side (Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents 2005). Pedalite products all focus on Safety, Health and the Environment, are sold in 24 countries around the world and are used by the UK’s emergency’s services.
Reflexions sees a direct synergy between its traditional services and offering these cycling safety lights to its customers, many of whom are keen cyclists, to improve their on-the-road safety. It hopes to encourage customers to take up cycling because it is a ‘greener’ and healthier way to travel around London.
Marcos Pavlides, owner and founder of Reflexions said, “So many people are trying to juggle good heath and an environmental conscience with busy lives and rising stress levels, traffic congestion and pollution. There is a strong link between reflexology and cycling because both can alleviate stress and congestion in the body. Reflexology therapy is all about re-balancing energy and getting rid of tensions and congestion in the body through massage around a system of points in the feet or hands. I firmly believe that cycling, as opposed to walking around and getting on public transport, which can often by highly stressful, can help reduce congestion and promote well being.”
“Many of our customers are already keen cyclists and we want them to have the opportunity to buy Pedalites to ensure they are safer on the roads. We hope that Pedalite products will also give others the confidence to take up cycling in the near future, secure in the knowledge they will be seen by motorists,” he added.
In a survey, conducted at the national UK cycle show in October 2007, 61% of cyclists complained that cars and lorries come too close to them, causing them to wobble or throwing them off balance. Because Pedalite 360 degree pedal lights define the width of the cycle, for the very first time, Pedalite’s create a virtual cycle lane for the cyclist and cars and lorries give bikes with Pedalite 360 degree visibility pedal lights a wider berth. In the same survey 51% of cyclists also said that their biggest worry was not being seen.
Simon Theobald, Managing Director of Pedalite said, “We are delighted to have such an innovative and forward-thinking company like Reflexions providing Pedalite products to its customers around London. There is a major link between cycling and health and well being. We are confident that this unique product will prove highly popular with its customers. We also look forward to a long lasting, successful and of course relaxed partnership with Reflexions.”
Named as one of the top three recommended cycling accessories this Christmas in the ‘In Gear’ section in the Sunday Times and endorsed by, amongst others, former World and European track champion Tony Doyle, MBE, the award winning battery-free 360 degree pedal lighting system is proving to be a massive hit with cyclists both in the UK and around the world.

About Pedalite International
Pedalite International Ltd offers unique battery-free pedal lights that harvest and store the energy that a cyclist uses enabling the lights to stay on for up to five minutes after the pedalling stops such as when freewheeling or waiting at a junction.
Now used by thousands of cyclists in over 22 countries, Pedalite 360 degree pedal lights help to protect the cyclist with always on essential side lighting, protect the environment by eliminating highly caustic battery waste and save money by using the kinetic energy generated by turning the pedals rather than requiring batteries to be purchased over and over again.
In July 2007 Pedalite was acquired by the Mpower1 Group of companies (www.mpower1.com); a major business development organisation, which has increased investment, accelerated product development, attracted celebrity endorsement for Pedalite products, initiated a major marketing campaign and underwritten the future of Pedalite.
Tony Doyle MBE, twice World Pursuit Champion and four times European Track Champion is an ambassador and spokesperson for Pedalite International Ltd. Tony will be promoting the pedal lights at exhibitions, cycling shows and through cycling clubs, retail outlets and in schools throughout the UK, highlighting the part they play in cycling safety. As spokesperson, Tony also plays a key role in helping explain, through the media, the importance to cyclists of using Pedalite Pedals.
