Pedalite 360 degree pedal lights widely available in North America through LCI Distribution partnership
• The ideal Christmas gift for safety conscious cyclists
• Retailing at $59.99
6 December 2007 – Pedalites, the new pedal-powered, battery-free pedal lights that make cyclists more visible to motorists and safer on the roads are now widely available throughout the USA and Canada, thanks to a new distribution agreement between Pedalite International Ltd and Canadian-based, LCI Distribution, operating as Pedalite North America.
Pedalites are already being sold to customers in the USA and Canada, but this partnership will make the products more widely and readily available through a substantial dedicated stock held in North America and will help meet the growing customer demand for Pedalites in the regions.
Pedalites have received rave media reviews in the UK and the USA and are fast becoming this year’s most popular cycling accessory. They are ‘a must have cycling product’ according to The Scotsman; Road Cycling UK called them ‘a fantastic product’ and according to David Fiedler editor of bycling.about.com (USA), ‘Pedalites have a lot to like about them’. Pedalites are also officially endorsed by former World Champion Cyclist, Tony Doyle and are used by the UK’s Emergency Services.
The unique lights are powered by the kinetic energy that exists when cycling. As soon as a cyclist starts pedaling, the pedals uniquely harvest and store a small amount of energy so the lights continue to flash when the cyclist is freewheeling or has stopped at a road junction. According to a Royal Society of the Prevention of Accidents report, 75% of cycling accidents happen at road junctions where cycles need to be seen from the side.
Pedalite pedals enable bikes to be seen from up to 1km away by motorists in all directions including the side and bikes fitted with the pedals are given a wider berth and more distance by motorists thus creating their own virtual cycle lane. In addition, they are easy to fit and require no maintenance.
Customers in the North America and Canada can purchase a pair of Pedalites for $59.99 and an accompanying toe clip for $11.99 directly from www.pedalitenorthamerica.com. In addition, LCI Distribution’s network of resellers will be rolling out the products to various retail stores and e-commerce sites throughout the regions. The retail prices for the products compare very favorably with other lighting products and the fact that there are no batteries ever required saves the environment, the continual additional cost of batteries and possibly the cyclist when ordinary battery operated lighting systems run out of energy at the least expected moment.
Lloyd Fell, Vice President - Sales of LCI Distribution said, “Safety and environmentally conscious cyclists love this innovative and green cycling product. Pedalite was already receiving a considerable amount of orders in the UK from customers in the USA and our partnership will enable the company to expand its presence in the North American and Canadian markets and help attract many more customers.”
“Our resellers are really excited about rolling out the product to retail outlets and we are increasing our coverage with new retailers, wholesalers and distributors every day. We are all confident that it has enormous potential in the growing cycling accessories market in the USA and Canada and that it will be a major hit with customers of all ages,” he added.
Simon Theobald, Managing Director of Pedalite said, “LCI Distribution is a first class Distributor and will dramatically increase our existing operations in the USA and Canadian markets. We have been overwhelmed by the enthusiastic response to our product from customers and the media in the USA. We look forward to growing our presence in the region through increased investment in the market, additional wholesale and retail outlets and to a long and mutually successful partnership with LCI Distribution as we achieve this.”
Pedalite pedals have excellent ‘green’ credentials and will appeal to those who are environmentally conscious. Globally 15 billion batteries are thrown away each year; Pedalite pedals are protecting the environment by eliminating batteries and are always on to help protect cyclists, even the products packaging is recycled cardboard.

About Pedalite International
Pedalite International Ltd offers unique battery-free pedal lights that harvest and store the energy that a cyclist uses enabling the lights to stay on for up to five minutes after the pedalling stops such as when freewheeling or waiting at a junction.
Now used by thousands of cyclists in over 22 countries, Pedalite 360 degree pedal lights help to protect the cyclist with always on essential side lighting, protect the environment by eliminating highly caustic battery waste and save money by using the kinetic energy generated by turning the pedals rather than requiring batteries to be purchased over and over again.
In July 2007 Pedalite was acquired by the Mpower1 Group of companies (www.mpower1.com); a major business development organisation, which has increased investment, accelerated product development, attracted celebrity endorsement for Pedalite products, initiated a major marketing campaign and underwritten the future of Pedalite.
Tony Doyle MBE, twice World Pursuit Champion and four times European Track Champion is an ambassador and spokesperson for Pedalite International Ltd. Tony will be promoting the pedal lights at exhibitions, cycling shows and through cycling clubs, retail outlets and in schools throughout the UK, highlighting the part they play in cycling safety. As spokesperson, Tony also plays a key role in helping explain, through the media, the importance to cyclists of using Pedalite Pedals.
