Win ‘gold dust’ tickets to cycle with World Champion Cyclist, Tony Doyle, MBE

• British Heart Foundation’s London to Southend bike ride on 20th July 2008

• Exclusive chance to join Tony Doyle’s Pedalite team

20th May 2008 – Pedalite International, a provider of 360 degree visibility, battery-free pedal lights for bikes is offering five lucky cyclists an one-off chance to cycle with former World Champion Cyclist and four times European track champion, Tony Doyle, MBE, in one of the British Heart Foundation’s (BHF) largest bike events – the London to Southend charity bike ride on 20th July 2008.

Tony is recognised as one of the UK’s most successful cyclists. He was twice World Professional Pursuit Champion, four times World Silver medallist, four times European Track Champion and the UK’s most successful 6 day rider ever. He has won 24 six-day races in his amazing career and in 1989 was awarded an M.B.E. for his services to cycling. Since retiring from a professional racing career, he has become a well respected figure on an international level often appearing on TV and Radio.

He is also an ardent safety cycling safety campaigner and an ambassador for Pedalite, a company specialising in cycling safety products, including its award-winning 360-degree visibility, battery-free pedal lights for bikes.

The competition winners will form a team of six Pedalite riders, led by Tony and together they will raise sponsorship funding for the BHF. They will get the chance to meet Tony before the event and receive vital tips about training and warming up for the 59 mile ride a few weeks before. They will also receive a Pedalite cycling shirt to wear on the day and a free set of Pedalite pedals and toe clips to take home with them.

To enter the competition, entrants need to state in no more than 250 words why they want to cycle with the former World Champion and submit their entry by email to Caroline.beswick@trinitypr.co.uk by 6th June 2008. The five best entries will win and winners will be contacted by 13th June 2008. Log onto www.pedalite.com to view competition terms and conditions (see Notes to Editors).

Simon Theobald, Managing Director of Pedalite says, “We are delighted that Tony will lead a team from Pedalite in one of the UK’s biggest charity cycling events. It is a great opportunity for five lucky winners to learn from a former world champion professional cyclist how he would approach the training and run up to such an event and pick some invaluable tips and advice for the future. Not only is this is a fantastic, one-off opportunity, it is a chance to raise money for a wonderful charity.”

About Pedalite International Ltd

Pedalite International Ltd is a UK company that designs and manufacturers bicycle accessory products designed for Safety, Health and the Environment with QUALITY built in.  The company's flagship product the unique 360 degree visibility battery-free pedal lights improve cycling safety. Pedalite 360 degree visibility pedal lights are powered by cycling energy which is harvested and stored enabling the lights to stay on for up to five minutes after the pedalling stops, such as when the cyclist is freewheeling or waiting at a junction. Motorists can see bikes fitted with Pedalite pedal lights from up to 1km away and from any angle, including the side

Now used by thousands of cyclists in over 30 countries, Pedalite 360 degree pedal lights help to protect the cyclist with always-on essential side lighting, protect the environment by eliminating highly caustic battery waste and save money by using the kinetic energy generated by turning the pedals rather than requiring batteries to be purchased over and over again.

The Pedalite 360 Degree Visibility Pedal Lights and optional toe clips can be purchased from all good independent bike shops, retail chains and high street shops in most countries.

Pedalite products all adhere to three principles; they address issues of safety, health and the environment (SHE). To read more about Pedalite International’s SHE campaign please go to: http://www.pedalite.com/she.aspx.

In 2007 Pedalite was acquired by the Mpower1 Group of companies (www.mpower1.com); a major business development organisation, which has increased investment, accelerated product development, attracted celebrity endorsement for Pedalite products, initiated a major marketing campaign and underwritten the future of Pedalite.

Tony Doyle MBE, twice World Pursuit Champion and four times European Track Champion is an ambassador and spokesperson for Pedalite International Ltd.  Tony will be promoting the pedal lights at exhibitions, cycling shows and through cycling clubs, retail outlets and in schools throughout the UK, highlighting the part they play in cycling safety.  As spokesperson, Tony also plays a key role in helping explain, through the media, the importance to cyclists of using Pedalite Pedals.
