Pedalite seeks new distributors for multiple countries at Taipei Cycle Show

Top UK Selling Unique Pedalite 360 degree visibility battery-free Pedal Lights and other Pedalite products available for worldwide distribution opportunities

13 February 2008 – Pedalite International, which offers a range of environmentally friendly cycling safety products, including the top selling Pedalite battery-free 360 degree visibility pedal lights, is offering the opportunity to appoint new regional distributors throughout the worldwide cycle accessory market at the Taipei Cycle show on 13th to 16th March.

The company is looking to significantly extend its global distribution network to reach additional customers in Europe, America and the Asia Pacific regions, where the company is now holding stocks of its products in each region for immediate distribution. The team from Pedalite will be showcasing its eco-friendly and innovative lighting safety products at stand N1317.

Pedalite has already successfully established distributors, customers and market demand in over 24 countries around the world. Its UK best-selling 360 degree visibility pedal lights were named as one of the top three recommended cycling accessories this Christmas in the ‘In Gear’ section in the best-selling national weekend broadsheet newspaper, The Sunday Times and are endorsed by, amongst others, former World and European track champion and cycling safety campaigner, Tony Doyle, MBE.

The company is able to offer attractive wholesale and retailer margins to interested distributors who visit stand N1317 at the Taipei Cycle show, as part of an efficient and simple process of getting Pedalite products into distribution centres and shops quickly.

Customer demand for Pedalite Pedals is strong and the product is selling rapidly at the recommended retail price of £34.99/US$59.99, as are the optional toe clip at RRP £6.99/US$11.99 (Euro and other pricing available). The products are also very popular as part of Bike to Work schemes and for commuters.

Further products will be launched by the company in 2008, which like the battery-free 360 degree visibility pedal lights will address issues of safety, health and the environment.

Simon Theobald, managing director of Pedalite says, “We are looking to meet and partner with professional distributors from multiple markets who will want to sell our entire product range, including our award-winning Pedalite Pedals, which are proving to be an incredible success wherever they are sold, thanks to their strong safety, health and environmental attributes.”

Pedalite Pedals are the unique battery-free pedal lights for bicycles that have been designed to make cyclists more visible to motorists day and night from any angle including the side, which is vital for cyclists as 75% of Cycling accidents in the UK happen at, or near, a road junction [source Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, RoSPA], where cycles need to be seen from the side.

Pedalite pedals also help cyclists create their own virtual cycle lane as motorists naturally give cyclists with Pedalite pedals a wider berth and distance, increasing their safety. As soon as cyclists start pedalling the Pedalite pedals uniquely harvest and store a small amount of energy from the bicycle so the lights continue to flash when the cyclist is freewheeling or has stopped at a road junction. Now used by thousands of cyclists, they are fast becoming a global phenomenon.

Mr Theobald added, “Taipei is the most well known cycling trade show in the world and we are delighted to be able, at the show, to offer a unique and highly beneficial distribution opportunity to professional distributors of cycling accessories, both large and small, from around the world.”

We have seen a huge increase in sales in Pedalite products over the past few months in parts of Europe and the Americas and we are keen to meet with new partners who can help us extend the reach of our existing products and also launch the extension of the Pedalite range planned for 2008 to replicate this success in their own markets.”

About Pedalite International

Pedalite International Ltd offers unique battery-free pedal lights that harvest and store the energy that a cyclist uses enabling the lights to stay on for up to five minutes after the pedalling stops such as when freewheeling or waiting at a junction.

Now used by thousands of cyclists in over 22 countries, Pedalite 360 degree pedal lights help to protect the cyclist with always on essential side lighting, protect the environment by eliminating highly caustic battery waste and save money by using the kinetic energy generated by turning the pedals rather than requiring batteries to be purchased over and over again.

In July 2007 Pedalite was acquired by the Mpower1 Group of companies (www.mpower1.com); a major business development organisation, which has increased investment, accelerated product development, attracted celebrity endorsement for Pedalite products, initiated a major marketing campaign and underwritten the future of Pedalite.

Tony Doyle MBE, twice World Pursuit Champion and four times European Track Champion is an ambassador and spokesperson for Pedalite International Ltd. Tony will be promoting the pedal lights at exhibitions, cycling shows and through cycling clubs, retail outlets and in schools throughout the UK, highlighting the part they play in cycling safety. As spokesperson, Tony also plays a key role in helping explain, through the media, the importance to cyclists of using Pedalite Pedals.
