Pedalite International offers recession hit charities a new fundraising opportunity
7 September 2009 - Pedalite International, an award-winning UK company that designs, manufactures and distributes environmentally friendly, battery-free, safety lighting products is offering registered UK charities the chance to promote its products to participants as part of a sponsored walk, run, cycle, jog or triathlon and receive donations to the cause when they are purchased.
The scheme aims to give recession hit charities a much needed additional income stream as well as creating safer, more environmentally friendly events by offering these innovative and highly popular products to the participants and their supporters.
There is almost no additional effort required to participate as charities simply need to contact Pedalite to set up a special promotional code on the Pedalite website, www.pedalite.com, and inform the event participants and supporters about the offer as part of their standard sponsored event information that is already being provided. When purchasing an award winning Pedalite product via the website, at the same price as if they were purchased on the high street, customers simply need to enter the Charity’s promotional code and 25% of the purchase price will be donated back to the event.
Pedalite’s award-winning portfolio of battery-free, safety lighting products are receiving rave press reviews from many UK newspapers and specialist magazines for their innovation and environmental credentials. The products keep cyclists, walkers, commuters, children and horse riders safe and seen clearly from 1km away and at 360 degree angles which helps to eliminate accidents, any time day or night.
All the products are widely available on the high street and online. They include the best selling 360 degree Pedal Lights for cyclists which are powered by kinetic energy, the solar powered Baglite, which fits any size or shape of backpack and is ideal for walkers, cyclists, horse riders and children and the ultra lightweight Anklelite, which illuminates ankles or arms and will appeal to keen joggers, walkers and cyclists. None of the products require expensive replacement batteries so no old batteries are going into landfill - even the packaging is made from recycled cardboard.
A report out this month entitled ‘Managing in a downturn’ from Pricewaterhouse Coopers in conjunction with The Institute of Fundraising, The Association of Charitable Foundations and CFDG (Promoting Best Practice in Charity Finance) revealed that half of all UK charities predict their income levels will fall in the next six months. 56% of charities have already seen income from corporate funds decrease and 26% do not expect any growth during this time. 62% claimed they will increase their fundraising activities in the next six months, so this new initiative from Pedalite could prove a much needed additional source of revenue.
Simon Theobald, managing director, Pedalite International said: “Recession hit UK Charities need to innovate and develop new income streams to meet the current shortfall in donations. Our best selling range of battery free safety lights should appeal to anyone with an interest in the environment, their health and their safety on the roads. We are confident charities that will see tremendous potential for increasing revenue and that the products will prove a hit with their members. Our entire range of products is selling well in over 40 countries worldwide and is available in many high street shops in the UK. Our goal is to help UK charities promote safer, greener events, offer positive safety products to participants and help raise more money for charitable causes.”
